Kyoto

Overview

Explore Kyoto during your
Japan trip

Kyoto is Japan’s former imperial capital, known for its historic temples, geisha culture, and traditional wooden townscapes. As the heart of Japanese heritage, Kyoto offers a peaceful yet profound connection to the country’s timeless beauty. Kyoto invites travelers into a world of tradition and refinement. You can walk through the endless vermilion gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine, explore bamboo forests in Arashiyama, or admire the golden splendor of Kinkaku-ji.

In Gion, geiko and maiko preserve centuries-old performance arts. Kyoto’s food scene is equally rich: savor multi-course kaiseki meals, fresh yuba tofu, and delicate wagashi sweets. Cultural experiences such as wearing kimono, joining a tea ceremony, or watching seasonal festivals bring Kyoto’s heritage to life. Every season paints Kyoto in a new light—from cherry blossoms to crimson maples.
